Janet Hustler is the director and co-principal investigator of a National Science Foundation funded project - Partnership for Student Success in Science (PS3) - that serves nine school districts in the San Francisco Bay Area. The project, now in year five, features science professional development for K-8 teachers in partnership with engineers from San Jose State University. Prior to PS3, Janet was the principal investigator of a similar, six-year, NSF-funded project with seven Bay Area school districts focusing on elementary science teaching and learning. Her background includes more than 20 years of classroom teaching experience along with out-of-the-classroom roles such as science mentor, marine science professional developer and science coordinator for Palo Alto Unified School District. She has served on several national boards such as the LASER (Leadership and Assistance in Science Education Reform) and ASMC (Association of Science Materials Centers) boards and has been a faculty member of numerous LASER institutes. Janet began her teaching career with a fine arts degree and later added three masters' degrees: an MA in social sciences, an MA in Educational Administration and, finally, an MS degree in marine science education.
